Links Style
A links course is generally built on a sandy coastline that is open to the wind with plenty of coastal grass instead of trees. In Japan, there are few courses near the coastline, where most of links style courses are located in mountainsides or in woodland.
Hills or Parkland
Over 70% of golf courses in Japan are located in these types of areas. With hills courses, the traditional layout provides stunning mountain and valley vistas from nearly every hole. These courses have a fair amount of challenges but they are still approachable for beginners.
Championship
A “championship” course can mean that the golf course has held a significant and important golf tournament. It also means the golf course is strategic and challenging, worthy of hosting a championship tournament.
